Maryland Parents — Don’t Sleep on Tax-Free Week

Alright y’all — it’s that time again.

Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week is coming up, and if you’ve got back-to-school stuff to buy (especially if you’re a SPED parent), this is your moment to save a few dollars and get ahead of the chaos.

📅 When Is It?

This year, Tax-Free Week runs from Sunday, August 10 through Saturday, August 16.

👟 What’s Included?

Here’s what qualifies:

  • Clothes and shoes that cost $100 or less per item (yes, per item, not total)

  • The first $40 of any backpack or bookbag is also tax-free

What’s NOT included?
Accessories like handbags, jewelry, watches, and anything that isn’t a backpack.

Why This Matters (Especially for SPED Moms/Families)

Listen — I know what it’s like to need sensory-friendly clothes, extra shoes for OT, or a backpack that’s strong enough to carry a communication device, binder, and your whole damn life.

Every dollar saved counts.

Use this time to:

  • Buy school uniforms if your district requires them

  • Snag fresh sneakers

  • Replace worn-out basics

  • Prep for the unexpected (because you already know…)

Bonus Tip: Tax-Free Weekend for Energy Star Products

There’s also a separate 3-day tax-free weekend in February for Energy Star appliances — so if you’ve been thinking about an air purifier or new washer/dryer, that’s the time to do it. (And yes, our neurodivergent babies notice the difference in sound and air.)

💬 Final Word from Me:

I don’t promote fluff.
This is one of those little state benefits that doesn’t get talked about — but if you use it right, it adds up.

Shop smart.
Save your coins.
Use that money for what really matters this fall — like support, peace, and maybe a good binder.

You got this.
